QUARTA E SESTA FILA PER I PILOTI DEL TEAM HDR HEIDRUN NELLE QUALIFICHE DEL GP DELLE AMERICHE
Si sono da poco concluse le qualifiche del Gran Premio delle Americhe al COTA, con Alonso López e Celestino Vietti che scatteranno rispettivamente dalla undicesima e dalla diciottesima posizione in griglia nella gara di domani.
La giornata è iniziata con una pista ancora parzialmente umida in alcuni punti, ma complessivamente in condizioni migliori rispetto alla giornata precedente, permettendo un netto abbassamento dei tempi. Nelle FP2, nonostante una scivolata alla curva 11, il numero 21 ha segnato il decimo tempo della prova in 2’09.380. Durante la Q2 del pomeriggio, il pilota spagnolo non è riuscito a trovare il ritmo ideale per lottare per le prime file, ma si è comunque piazzato in undicesima posizione. Grazie al tempo di 2’08.255, López partirà domani dalla quarta fila.
Giornata più complessa per Vietti, che dopo il dodicesimo tempo nelle FP2 (2’09.637), non è riuscito a migliorarsi in qualifica. Nel suo ultimo tentativo di time attack, una bandiera gialla causata dalla caduta di Baltus ha compromesso la possibilità di ottenere un crono più competitivo, costringendo Celestino ad accontentarsi del diciottesimo posto in 2’10.233, che lo costringe alla sesta fila della griglia di partenza.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 11° in 2’08.255
“Oggi è stata una qualifica più difficile del previsto. Avevo buone sensazioni in mattinata, ma nel pomeriggio non sono riuscito a mettere insieme il giro perfetto. Partiremo dalla quarta fila, quindi sarà importante fare una buona partenza e recuperare subito posizioni”.
CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 18° in 2’10.233
“Purtroppo non sono riuscito a sistemare alcuni punti critici su cui faticavo questa mattina; ci sono due o tre curve in cui perdo ancora parecchio. Sono migliorato, ma allo stesso tempo anche i primi hanno fatto un passo avanti, soprattutto nel T1. In qualifica non sono riuscito a mettere insieme un giro pulito e, nell’ultimo tentativo, ho anche preso la bandiera gialla. Mi dispiace, perché la posizione da cui partiremo domani non rispecchia davvero il lavoro che stiamo facendo: non siamo i più veloci, ma nemmeno così in difficoltà come sembra. Continueremo a lavorare per cercare di fare una bella rimonta domani”.
FOURTH AND SIXTH ROW FOR HDR HEIDRUN TEAM RIDERS IN THE AMERICAS GP QUALIFYING
The qualifying session for the Grand Prix of the Americas at COTA has just ended, with Alonso López and Celestino Vietti starting from the eleventh and eighteenth positions on the grid, respectively, in tomorrow’s race.
The day began with a track still partially damp in some spots, but overall in significantly better conditions compared to the previous day, allowing for a considerable drop in lap times. In FP2, despite a slide at turn 11, rider #21 clocked the tenth fastest time of the session with a lap of 2’09.380. During the afternoon’s Q2, the Spanish rider was unable to find the ideal pace to fight for the front rows but still managed to secure eleventh position. Thanks to his lap time of 2’08.255, López will start tomorrow from the fourth row.
A more challenging day for Vietti, who after setting the twelfth fastest time in FP2 (2:09.637), was unable to improve his performance in qualifying. In his final time attack attempt, a yellow flag caused by Baltus’s crash compromised his chance to achieve a more competitive lap time, forcing Vietti to settle for eighteenth place with a lap of 2’10.233, placing him on the sixth row of the starting grid.

“Today’s qualifying was tougher than expected. I had good feelings in the morning, but in the afternoon, I couldn’t put together the perfect lap. We will start from the fourth row, so it will be important to get a good start and immediately gain positions”.
CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 18th in 2’10.233
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to fix some critical points that I struggled with this morning; there are two or three corners where I’m still losing a lot. I have improved, but at the same time, the leaders also made progress, especially in T1. In qualifying, I couldn’t put together a clean lap, and during my last attempt, I also encountered a yellow flag. I’m disappointed because the starting position tomorrow doesn’t really reflect the work we’re putting in: we’re not the fastest, but we’re not struggling as much as it seems. We’ll keep working to try to make a good comeback tomorrow”.
