SOLIDARITY GP: SYNC SPEEDUP RIDERS CONCLUDE THE FIRST DAY OF THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 2024 SEASON
The Solidarity GP of Barcelona, a special event replacing the GP of the Comunitat Valenciana following the tragedy of NADA, kicked off today with a promising day for the Sync SpeedUp riders. In the final round of the 2024 season, Fermín Aldeguer and Alonso López finished in P7 and P10 respectively at the end of the free practice sessions.
Despite the recent hand surgery following the Thai GP, Fermín showed an impressive physical recovery. During FP1, the young talent from Murcia stood out by posting the second-best time of 1’43.198, showcasing competitive pace. In the afternoon, Aldeguer consolidated his performance, further improving his time with a solid 1’42.981, placing him in P7.
Alonso also started the weekend with a promising performance. In the morning free practice, he achieved the fourth-best time of 1’43.654, thanks to a particularly strong second run. However, in the first part of FP1, Alonso faced some difficulties finding the optimal setup, which required several pit stops. Finally, López finished the Friday free practice sessions with a time of 1’43.253, earning him P10.
FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 7th in 1’42.981
“It was a good first day, considering the surgery I had recently. We are here to test and see if I can feel comfortable right away. This morning things went well, but in the afternoon the conditions were a bit strange. With the used tire, we are not in a bad position, but I know we can improve. I’m quite satisfied, but there is still work to be done. In the afternoon, we simulated a race run in the first stint, and tomorrow, with more laps and more information, we’ll see if we’re ready for the race”.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 10th in 1’43.253
“The track is particular, and we are still working on improving the grip. Today, we tried different tires between the morning and the afternoon, and I’m confident we can be competitive. Tomorrow, it will be crucial to focus on race endurance and tire management to make further progress. The goal is to keep working and aim to fight for the pole”.
