SOLIDARITY GP QUALIFYING: FIFTH AND SIXTH ROW FOR THE SYNC SPEEDUP RIDERS
The Solidarity GP qualifying session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya saw López finish in thirteenth position, securing the fifth row on the grid. Aldeguer, on the other hand, was hindered by a fall during Q2, which compromised his chances of competing for the top positions, and he will start from the sixth row tomorrow.
Alonso’s day was characterized by ups and downs. In the morning’s free practice, the Madrilenian rider was unable to improve on his 1’43.252 lap time from the previous day, making it necessary to go through Q1. However, in this session, he showed great determination, setting the fastest time with a 1’42.814. In Q2, number 21 couldn’t find the pace needed to get closer to the front rows, ending the session with a 1’42.884 and securing thirteenth position, thus starting from the fifth row.
For Aldeguer, the second Catalan day was even more challenging. A technical issue in the morning’s free practice forced him to stop in the pits after the opening lap, and his best time was the one set the previous day in 1’42.981, placing him in eleventh position overall. In qualifying, a fall in the final corner on his first lap of Q2 prematurely ended his session, preventing him from improving his time. Fermín will start from eighteenth position and will also have to serve a long lap penalty due to his sanction after the Thailand race.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 13th in 1’43.253
“Today I didn’t feel at my best. We could have done more for sure and instead we also went through Q1. Tomorrow we start thirteenth but there is a lot of room for improvement. Let’s see how it goes”.
FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 18th in 1’42.981
“It wasn’t my day, but we have to look forward. Starting from eighteenth position is never easy, but I will do my best in the race. Also, I will have to deal with the long lap penalty, so it will be a challenge, but I am ready to give it my all”.
