BETA TOOLS SPEED UP
ARGENTINA GP: ALDEGUER AND LÓPEZ CLOSE THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE IN P8 AND P10
On the Friday of the Argentina Grand Prix, the BETA TOOLS SpeedUp riders faced the two free practices, concluding the first day in top ten.
FP1 began with a few drops of rain which forced the teams to quickly change settings and tyres. Fortunately, the climatic conditions improved in a short time and after a few laps on the track with the rain tyres, Fermín and Alonso returned for the change.
Aldeguer, holder of the Termas de Riondo track record since last year and still the youngest poleman in Moto2, finished FP1 in eighth position with a time of 1’44.530, +0.345 from the first. In the following practice, the number 54 managed to improve his time by over a second, reducing the gap to +0.268, confirming his eighth position in 1’43.440.
Positive Friday also for Alonso who tackles the Argentine circuit for the first time with the Boscoscuro bike in the intermediate class. For the number 21, the first session ended in thirteenth position with a time of 1’45.190. A slightly tough start but López and the technicians knew how to manage it and in the afternoon session the feeling improved as did the gap from the leader. P10 in 1’43.644 (+0.472) the result at the end of day1 for Alonso who temporarily takes direct access to Q2.
FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 8th
“Today went well, I’m happy to have found a good rhythm on the track even if we weren’t so incisive on the fast lap especially with the new tyre. We need to fix a couple of things on the bike, we’ll work on tomorrow’s setting to try and be faster. Let’s keep working!”.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 10th
“I am very happy with this first day. The sensations on the track are good, a pity about the mistake I made in the fastest lap because I think we could have finished Friday in top three. In any case, I feel good and I feel that I have the right confidence with the bike. Tomorrow we can take another step forward to be able to fight up front”.
