LIGHTECH SPEED UP
FREE PRACTICES: NAVARRO SEVENTH AND MONTELLA EIGHTEENTH ON SPANISH FRIDAY
LighTech SpeedUp riders are back on track today, kicking off the Gran Premio de España, the fourth round of the 2021 Moto2 World Championship.
Shortly before 11:00 the Boscoscuro B-21 bikes of Jorge and Yari left the LighTech SpeedUp garage and went wild on track in the first free practice session at the Jerez-Àngel Nieto circuit.
Jorge Navarro immediately found a good feeling and on lap 15/18 he set his best time of the day in 1’41.918. In FP2, team 9 carried out several tests to identify the set-up for the race, closing the first day with the seventh time at +0.403 from the first.
The first was also good for rookie Montella who ranked eighteenth at +0.923 gap. Yari continues his growth and demonstrates it with the progress made from one session to the next, obtaining his best time in FP2.
Preparation work for tomorrow’s qualifying and Sunday’s race will continue tomorrow morning with the third and final free practice session scheduled for 10.55 am CEST.
JORGE NAVARRO #9: 7th in 1’41.918
“Today was a good day. I immediately felt good on track, already from the first laps of FP1. In FP2 we ran with used tires and the pace was very good. When we put the new ones on we had some more difficulties with the hard front tire which should be the same as the race. We then made some changes that didn’t help us as we hoped, but this will certainly help us understand the path to take in view of the race”.
MONTELLA #5: 18th in 1’42.438
“Positive day, I’m happy. We worked in the right direction already this morning, improving lap after lap. For tomorrow we expect another step forward. With the data collected today we have everything to do better, we know where to improve!”.
