FREE PRACTICES: WET CONDITIONS SET THE TONE FOR DAY ONE OF THE SAN MARINO GP
The two free practice sessions on Friday that kicked off the Grand Prix of San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, appointment no.14 of the Moto2 World Championship, have just ended.
At the end of the first day Jorge Navarro and Yari Montella classified respectively with the twelfth and nineteenth time.
The rain affected the whole day making the track conditions much more complicated.
Ninth time for Jorge in FP1 in the morning, signed at the end of the session in 1’51.248. In the second session the Valencian improved his feeling but he was stopped by the yellow flag in his fastest lap.
His best time is therefore that of the morning which earned him the fifteenth position in the combined standings.
Positive start for Montella who managed to find a good feeling in the wet. P16 in the first morning session, but his best time was scored in the afternoon session in 1’51.467, stopping at +1.299 from the first and so closing the first day with p19.
JORGE NAVARRO # 9: 12th in 1’51.318
“It was a strange day here in Misano because it doesn’t normally rain and instead today we went out under the rain in both sessions. The track was really wet, but luckily there was grip and we could do a lot both on the bike and on my riding. I enjoyed riding my bike, we’ll see what the conditions will be tomorrow but I’m sure we will continue to enjoy this grand prix”.
YARI MONTELLA # 5: 19th in 1’51.467
“Quite a positive day in the wet. We have regained some confidence even though we have never had so many problems on the water. In both sessions we tried various set ups and let’s say that when we had to look for the time we were not as incisive as we should have. In any case, I’m happy to be back and to have started the weekend well”.
