MB CONVEYORS SPEED UP
QUALIFYING: FOURTH AND TENTH ROW FOR NAVARRO AND LOPEZ
MB Conveyors Speed Up riders completed the Gran Premi de Catalunya qualifying held today at the Montmeló-Barcelona circuit to determine their position on tomorrow’s starting grid.
In the third free practice session in the morning Navarro and his team were unable to lower the Friday time, thus ending the free practice outside the qualifying zone in p17 with a time of 1’44.437. A change to the setting before Q1 and it is immediately P1 with a time of 1’43.684. After only 10 minutes Jorge returned to the track to face Q2, aware that he could do well. On the first lap he set an excellent time, 1’43.904, but just as he was about to secure the front row he crashed at turn 11 to avoid another rider. P12 and then fourth row of the grid at the end of QP for the number nine of the team.
More complicated day for Alonso Lopez and his team. The sensations on track for Alonso have not improved since yesterday and the lack of grip has greatly affected his riding. P29 for team 2 which will start from the tenth row tomorrow.
JORGE NAVARRO #9: 12th in 1’43.904
“Let’s say weird day! In FP3 the feeling with the bike was not good, the pace yes, but it was more than half a second from the fastest! For which we have made some changes to the bike that have definitely changed my feeling for the better. In fact, we passed Q1 with the first time, thus gaining access to Q2. Unfortunately, the last qualifying ended too early with a crash as I was about to overtake a rider during a really fast lap. I entered the corner a bit too fast and lost the front. We know why we crashed and it doesn’t worry us because we were risking to make the front row. We have made a big step forward and we are ready to do well in the race!”.
ALONSO LOPEZ #2: 30th in 1’45.463
“Today was a tough day for us. We have not improved as we hoped and as planned. We are working harder than expected to improve the feeling and adapt to these tires. Anyway, tomorrow in the race I will give 100% trying above all not to make mistakes. We still have the warm up to try to understand how to improve at the points where we lose more time. I thank the team for all the work we are doing together, I look forward to tomorrow “.
