LIGHTECH SPEED UP
RACE: NAVARRO AND MONTELLA LEAVE THE RED BULL RING EMPTY-HANDED
The Austrian Grand Prix ended early for the LighTech SpeedUp team that is leaving the Red Bull Ring empty-handed.
Jorge Navarro was involved in an accident at the first turn after the start of the race, while Yari Montella crashed to the ground with nine laps to go.
A good race was expected for team9 which over the weekend had regained the confidence and the right dermination to fight for the top ten. Unfortunately, after a good start, Jorge was thrown to the ground by the Manzi, fortunately without serious consequences.
A complicated weekend ended for Montella in the constant search for a feeling at the front. In the race, Yari had to deal with a more difficult track where the conditions in the morning had worsened and in trying to push harder to gain positions he crashed to the ground at turn nine on lap 16.
JORGE NAVARRO #9: DNF
“There is not much to say except that I started well enough, I felt competitive and ready to fight.
We were really unlucky, we were all hoping for a good result and losing the opportunity in this way is a real shame. Now we just have to focus on the next grand prix!”.
YARI MONTELLA #5: DNF
“Sorry for how the whole weekend went. Disastrous race, we struggled from the start, we were unable to adapt to the conditions. We are sorry because in the warm up it seemed we had found a glimmer of light after having set the same time as qualifying with a tire that had many laps. I was hoping for a totally different race. Next race, let’s try to start from a better base trying to adapt more to the conditions on the track”.
