GREAT START FOR BETA TOOLS SPEEDUP: FIRST AND THIRD POSITION IN THE FREE PRACTICE OF THE AUSTRALIAN GP

The Beta Tools SpeedUp team has arrived in Australia for the first event of the final triple-header of the 2024 season. The Phillip Island circuit welcomed the team with the usual unpredictable weather of southern Melbourne, which affected the first day of the Australian GP.

Aldeguer used the 55 minutes of Free Practice to complete many consecutive laps in order to assess the tire behavior on this type of track. The number 54 rider finished the session with the eighth-fastest time, stopping the clock at 1’42.414. In the afternoon, with improved track conditions, the talent from Murcia quickly found the right feeling again, once again proving to be extremely competitive. Fermín finished with the fastest time of the day at 1’32.718, confirming his speed on a track that brought him great satisfaction last year, including a track record and a third-place podium finish.

López also showed great speed, despite a small incident that saw him slide out at Turn 4 with just over ten minutes left in the morning session. Fortunately, the rider emerged unscathed from the episode, still managing to close with a solid third time of 1’41.772. In the afternoon, Alonso also faced mixed track conditions, starting with hard tires and making two pit stops to change tire compounds and bike settings. However, he wasn’t able to get the maximum performance from the tire, not completing more than three consecutive laps. Despite this, he posted the third-fastest time of the session at 1’33.025.

FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 1st in 1’32.718

“I felt very comfortable on my Boscoscuro and confirmed the great feeling I have with this track, which has brought me good results in recent years. The track wasn’t at 100% in the afternoon, and I lost some time in T3 and T4. However, we were still the fastest on the track. If the weather is kinder tomorrow, I’m confident I can improve my time by about 1.7 seconds. Let’s see what happens!”.

ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 3rd in 1’33.025

“During the morning session, the weather changed so quickly from one lap to the next that it was probably the reason for my crash; I was pushing hard, and suddenly it started raining much harder. Despite this, I had very positive feelings. Although I had some issues with the front in the afternoon, we still managed to set a good time. Tomorrow, in dry conditions, we can do even better!”.
